what an experience - joan baez and gillian welch on Soundstage (the WTTW PBS show where they tape really really big artists with a studio audience - that's me!)

gillian and david were flawless and a shear joy to see/hear.

the next band nicklecreek started out really great with an amazing instrumental only to find out in later songs that their singing killed the band. by their music alone you could tell they were very talented young musicians that earned the right to play along side alison krauss and bela fleck. their singing and lyrics killed it for me though. at least i'm no longer tempted to skip tomorrow's study night to go to their evanston show.

joan... ahhh joan. a princess - no! a queen. still as political as ever (thank you!) the highlight of her set for me was when she played (and well) elvis blues, a gillian masterpiece! the diamonds and rust for dylan was just the right balance of sweet nostalgia and a good laugh.

all i have to say is ... you betcha you get my vote for that grammy doll!
