yesterday i did not leave my bed. except for the occasional bathroom run and the trip to White Hen for some Ben and Jerry's I remained in bed all day recovering from a very serious hangover.

somehow i got it in my head that three martinis and four glasses of wine was a really great idea. it certainly gave me the confidence i needed to say really embarrassing things to people i hadn't seen in 10 years. reunions are in fact very very strange. i thought they'd be boring with lots of dull career focused people exchanging business cards like at a networking event. the first part of the night felt like this but then it seemed like hundreds of people showed up to party. and that they did. i must admit that much of it was a wobbly blur and the more i drank the more i recognized people.

i'm very grateful that brendan was around to hold me up and help me walk on a number of occasions throughout the night. he also managed to have enough common sense to take some emails and telephone numbers while i just took more drinks at the bar.

i vaguely remember starting to answer a trivia sheet to enter a contest early in the night. out of that i apparently won a pair of mittens with the New Trier logo. i don't remember that part of the night at all. brendan had to explain this to me later when i found the mittens on the kitchen counter.

oh well, there's always the 20 year reunion to redeem myself. wonder what that's going to be like.
