saw the motorcycle diaries this weekend. fantastic film - really. it was powerful and well made. however, it did nothing to divert my already obsessing need to travel more.

also, our friend jay had a birthday party this weekend in which several guests, jay included, proceeded to remove wax from their ears with flaming ear cones, a procedure known as ear candling. there was also a pinata of george bush's head filled with bubble gum and skittles but the social ear wax removal attraction was a first. you don't often get to see what's in your friend's ears and try to predict who'll have more wax removed. one of our friends, maggie, had her ears cleaned of quite a bit of wax. she was known for her generally high pitched voice and was surprisingly speaking in lower tones after her procedure. click here to read more about this stuff.
