    outdoor festivals are expensive

that cheap show on saturday that i thought would be fun and inexpensive turned out to be really expensive and not all that fun. the tickets were $18 with convenience charges etc. and the drinks were $5. We waited in line for 45 minutes for the first 4 drinks then got right back in line (which then grew to an hour line) with our friends mandy and craig who had just stood in a 1.25 hour will call line for another 6 drinks. by the time we got our drinks Death Cab For Cutie were playing their last song. we sat on the grass drinking our expensive plastic cup cocktails and waited another 40 minutes for modest mouse to come on stage. at least i think they came on stage but I'm not tall enough to confirm that report. it was nice to hear them play but the fact is i wanted my alcohol more and those drinks just didn't cut it.

after the first few songs and after they played their smash hit 'Float On' it was easy to convince everyone to go to the nearest bar to "avoid the crowd" there we proceeded to feast on fries slathered in garlic, nachos smothered in jalepenos, and spicey chicken wings. (another $24) oh yes, and beer.

we enjoyed hanging out with M&C but will probably invite them to a park with a stereo next time the words 'outdoor festival' comes up. they were the best part of the weekend and *when* we get a sofa I expect they'll be perched on it often.
